Are you on Twitter? Facebook?
How about FourSquare or LinkedIn?
Well congratulations because you’re now the new Joy of Painting with Bob Ross, Cake Boss, Kate Plus 8 or Sports Center.

We’re now sharing more of ourselves more than ever. Not only that, we’re sharing in real-time. Twitter recently posted that people are now sharing at 3,293 Tweets Per Second. That’s an insane amount of information and sharing.
And whether you realize it or not, you are now either a publisher,a broadcaster, an analyst, an entertainer or critic. Or maybe all of the above.
People are following you on these networks for a reason. As an example I follow over 700 people in my Twitter stream. My Twitter stream’s main purpose is to keep in touch with the latest information and network with people in the Internet Marketing field and related disciplines. But, I also quite frankly follow people just for the hell of it because they’re entertaining. Some people are slightly intriguing enough for me to quietly wonder “what are they going to do next?”.
Our social sharing activities are mirroring the type of content available in cable TV shows or PBS. You know, those special interest shows that have a niche following.
We’re now entertainment and news fodder for Twitter, Facebook and others to profit from. The big difference though is that we’re not getting paid for it in dollars, we’re getting paid in influence and social capital.
Some of you are quietly building up our social capital. Some others could care less about social capital.
And social capital is real. A few of you are spending that social capital on book deals and on keynote speech opportunities or even something more widely attainable such as new jobs.
The question is, now that you’ve got your own TV show, what are you going to do with all that money?
